The feelings from this trip are twofold, on the one hand, it’s great that there is such an opportunity to swim with such beautiful and graceful giants, with biggest fish in the world, on the other hand, you understand that for locals this is a pure business and all this interaction has not good impact on the whale sharks. I know that many criticize the feeding of whale sharks in Oslob, no doubt this has its own pluses and minuses. But we must not forget about a couple of things that before this business was organized, local fishermen simply killed whale sharks due to fins, but now they protect them. And shut this business down for them, they get back to what they were doing for decades. We must remember that the main flow of tourists in Oslob is the Chinese, and I personally believe that after they swim with whale sharks, some of them will think about whether or not they should order another portion of shark fin soup.
